Lisa Byrnes - Opera Singer, Mezzo Soprano

Australian born mezzo soprano, Lisa Byrnes, studied voice in Australia, Italy and the United Kingdom and completed a Masters of Performance (Opera) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She has received several scholarships including an award from the Italian Government to study language and libretti in Italy.

Since graduating, Lisa has performed internationally as a soloist at venues including The Sydney Opera House, The Symphony Hall in Birmingham, Loftus Stadium in London, and Angel Place Recital Hall in Sydney, and continues to perform as a soloist at major events and in concerts and productions in The United Kingdom, Europe and Australia.

Recent performances include singing the mezzo soprano solo for the Verdi Requiem at Birmingham Symphony Hall, and soloist for ‘Highlights of Opera’ at The Sydney Opera House. Recitals and concerts include performances for the Schubert Society of London’s 150th celebrations, the Women’s Council Awards, Walsall Proms and Roger Clayden's 60minute orchestra.

Opera work includes productions for Opera Queensland and Opera Australia in Australia, and many innovative companies in the United Kingdom. Roles performed include Orlofsky, Cherubino, and Siebel.

The colour and range of her voice, and her ability as an actor, has allowed Lisa to successfully perform repertoire spanning from Baroque, Classical, Romantic and new works.
